Florida new notary law The changes made in the Senate Bill do not pertain to most notaries. The law changed the requirements for some law enforcement officers. For these officers, personal presence is no longer necessary, as this requirement can now be met through the use of secure, reliable electronic means. They have now defined “reliable electronic means.” Law enforcement officers can only use these alternative methods when completing tasks for official duties. The bill went into effect July 1, 2015. We recommend reading Bill 526 in its entirety. For more information about the bill go to The Florida Senate’s website.
